What this site is
This is an independent record written by one person. It contains two kinds of writing, and each is labelled.
- Personal narrative. These pieces are my own account of events in my life, drawn from my memory and from documents I hold. They describe what I experienced and how I understood it. Other people may remember the same events differently.
- Research. These pieces draw on public records, inquiries, published studies and reporting, with sources linked. They separate what is established from what is inferred and what remains uncertain.
Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is legal, medical, psychological or financial advice. Laws, time limits and services differ between countries and change over time. If you are making a decision about your own situation, speak to a qualified professional where you live. Reading this site does not create a professional relationship of any kind.
Accuracy
I take care to be accurate and to link to sources. I cannot guarantee that every statement is complete or current. Where an error is shown, it will be corrected and the correction dated. See Corrections and Right of Reply.
People and institutions
Where the writing refers to people or institutions, it describes my experience of them or what the public record shows. It is not a finding of wrongdoing by any court or tribunal unless the article says so and cites it. Some names and identifying details are withheld or changed to protect privacy.
Independence
This site is not connected with the Australian Defence Force, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs or any other government body or organisation. The views are my own.
Links to other websites
Articles link to outside sources. I am not responsible for the content of those sites, and a link is not an endorsement.
Difficult material
This site discusses domestic and family violence, trauma, addiction and loss. If you are in immediate danger, contact the emergency services where you are.
